When you first enter the village of Coalmont, you will be greeted by two handmade signs. The locals obviously have a great sense of humour. Walt Smart was responsible for having the original signs put up.
The blacked out area beside the word "Coalmont" used to say "Emporium", which was the store that Walt ran. The original signs have recently been replaced because of damage during snowplowing.

Tulameen River Valley
Coalmont is located in the scenic Tulameen River valley. You can see the village in the upper left corner of this photo.
