Winter Activities

Come and enjoy Coalmont during a fun, winter getaway.  Explore the outdoors with activities such as snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing at China Ridge.  Lace up your skates and experience Tulameen’s covered outdoor skating rink.  If you have a snowmobile, there are trails galore in the area.  The Coalmont Road (below), while narrow and winding, is kept clear as it is a Schoolbus Route.

China Ridge - Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing

China Ridge, located on the Coalmont Road just outside of Princeton, is a volunteer-maintained system of beautiful trails offering spectacular views.  Warming huts and a large longhouse are located at the site.  China Ridge frequently hosts family friendly events which can be found on their website.  For information about rates, trails, events, conditions, and rental availability, please visit the China Ridge website.  Donations are greatly appreciated, as they are a non-profit society.  A donation box is located at the trailhead at China Ridge.

Tulameen Skating Rink

The Tulameen skating rink is 8 km west of Coalmont, behind the Tulameen Fire Hall.  Skating is FREE but you must bring your own skates.  The Tulameen rink is lit up at night and available for rental if you want to host a party for your friends.  There is an online Calendar which lists bookings and events.  Contact the Tulameen Community Club regarding costs if you would like to rent out the entire rink.

The Timberline Cruisers is the local snowmobile club that hosts annual events.   For information on how to join their club and their rates, please visit the Timberline Cruisers website.   Below is a map of snowmobile trails in our area, compliments of the Club.  Note that the Coal Mine at 9K on the Blakeburn FSR is currently closed, so last year's ban on snowmoblies, as shown on the map below should no longer be in effect.  That should open up the new Haul Road they built connecting to the Champion Creek, Britton Creek, and Tulameen FSRs, making a huge loop back to Coalmont.
